This next week in New York will witness a lot of activity focusing on the needs of refugees and IDPs. We hope to see many positive steps taken, and learn from others on how we can better help people in need.
Two outgoing Presidents are holding summits on the migration crisis this week at the opening of the UN’s 71st General Assembly. Secretary Ban has convened the UN’s own “Summit for Refugees and Migrants” leading to the New York Declaration and President Obama hosts his own “Leaders’ Summit on the Global Refugee Crisis”
As the week progresses, we would like to share our own responses to these summits and the Fringe events at UNGA, and to explain how they relate to the issues some of the Ankawa families are facing for themselves.
